Some of the first works to be printed by the Aldine Press were Greek and Latin grammar books, in accord with Aldus's intention of spreading the knowledge of Latin and Greek language and literature throughout the Renaissance world. The first selection is the Grammatikes of the fifteenth-century author Theodoros Gazes. The other two authors included with this publication were father and son, ancient grammarians of the second century A.D.
This book is BYU's earliest Aldine. Although dated January 1495, according to the modern calendar it was actually printed in January 1496.
