11. Aristotle. Works (1495-1498).

5 v.; (BYU has vols. 1 and 3); 2° ; 293 x 199mm.

Termed the greatest scholarly and printing achievement of the fifteenth century, the complete works of Aristotle took Aldus over four years to complete. The Aldine publication of this important philosopher made his works available in the original Greek for the first time to a large number of readers, and proved influential on Renaissance thought. BYU owns the first and third volumes of the five-volume set, and a single leaf from volume four.
